Job Description:
Position Summary
Pharmacy Intern is a licensed pharmacy position who supports pharmacy services by assembling and participating in the distribution of medications. A pharmacy intern will need licensure by the board of pharmacy in their respective State. This position will assist the department’s professional staff, under direct supervision, in numerous aspects of ordering, receiving, storage, distribution, and monitoring medication use. This position will also require knowledge of USP 797 and sterile compounding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Accurately and efficiently processes and fills medication orders
2. Accurately and efficiently prepares medications
3. Delivers medications from pharmacy to nursing units; returns items from nursing units as needed
4. Wholesale order processed and received correctly
5. Demonstrates leadership skills and critical thinking
6. Provides general assistance to pharmacist staff
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:
· Must be enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy
· Registration as a Pharmacy Intern by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire if you are a new registrant. If previously registered, you must have registration upon hire
