Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney who is willing to learn and support Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s fastest growing technology companies. This Corporate Counsel role is based at Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, Washington and it will support the AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services business team. This Corporate Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership regarding transformative alliances with AWS Partners and related legal work. The candidate will have primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. These transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high value agreements.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently on transactional and project work
Key job responsibilities
This role will support the AWS Sales and Marketing team, which is a dynamic and fast-growing organization across the globe. Key responsibilities in supporting this team include negotiating strategic deals with global partners, innovating to modernize and scale our legal support, and analyzing security, competition, and other legal risk in the context of sales operations. This role will also participate in other Amazon Web Services legal projects, including negotiating and drafting agreements and managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships.

As part of the team you will participate in team-wide meetings, departmental goals, and collaborative projects. In this role, you will have access and visibility with senior leadership. We are also truly a coast-to-coast team, with members in Seattle, HQ2, New York, and Santa Monica.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Seattle, WA, USA
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
- 5+ years of transactional legal experience, to include experience at a law firm or in-house.
- Familiar with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications or cloud computing services
- Strong background sophisticated, multifaceted transactions
- In-house experience at a technology or internet company
- Strong analytical, written, and oral communication
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow in a team environment
- Ability to work independently and contribute successfully to cross-functional teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
