The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Control Systems Project Engineer II to lead PLC programming, SCADA development, and field commissioning for a high-profile data-center controls project in Montgomery, AL. You’ll own technical execution from design through turnover—coordinating daily with clients, subcontractors, and Thermo teammates. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for an engineer who enjoys leading, mentoring, and solving complex challenges in real time.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead design, programming, and integration of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, AVEVA, Ignition).
  • Oversee system start-up, commissioning, and testing (FAT/SAT) while mentoring field teams.
  • Review and redline P&IDs, control narratives, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings.
  • Specify instrumentation, I/O lists, and cause-and-effect matrices; ensure all designs meet standards and cost goals.
  • Support IT/OT network architecture, server/VM setup, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Anticipate customer needs, identify risks, and coordinate proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure scope, schedule, and budget success.

What You Bring

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent experience).
