About JLG, an Oshkosh company

JLG began in 1969, when our founder, John L. Grove set out to resolve growing safety concerns in the construction industry. Since then we have been committed to understanding the challenges and delivering innovative solutions to the access market. We partner with customers to provide quality equipment, training opportunities and trusted support within the access industry. We are a global company, and our products—including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles and accessories—can be found all over the world.

As a member of the Analysis team at JLG Engineering, the candidate will work with engineering development teams and customer support engineering teams on structural and stability analysis of new designs and support the life-cycle of existing designs.  Tools used by the Analysis team include those relating to finite element analysis (FEA), multibody analysis (MBD), and classical engineering calculations.  This position will initially be focused on supporting the development of scissor lift and vertical lift mobile elevating work platform products.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Utilize finite element analysis (FEA), multi-body dynamics (MBD), fatigue analysis, classical engineering calculations, and other analysis techniques to analyze the structure and stability of JLG products.  Ensure that designs meet internal and industry standards pertaining to structure and machine stability.  Provide feedback to the design team on areas of improvement or optimization potential.
  • Work with new product development teams to provide guidance on structural and stability matters, assist in brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal customers on project scope, technical approach, timing, and results.
  • Provide clear interpretation and document results of analyses for internal use.  Prepare technical stress and stability reports to support regulatory approval processes.
  • Create engineering test requests to support prototype testing, witness testing and evaluate results.
  • Provide analysis support for sustaining engineering efforts including dual-sourcing efforts, design updates in support of cost-reduction activities and regulatory requirement changes, and design modifications for specific customer requests.
  • Provide structural analysis advice and guidance to other JLG departments on manufacturing, customer support, product safety, and legal matters.
  • Perform all work in an ethical, professional manner consistent with the Oshkosh Way and defined policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
