This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List for the following locations: Eagle Mountain (Desert Center, CA), Hinds (Desert Center, CA), Iron Mountain (Earp, CA), Gene Camp (Parker Dam, CA), and Intake (Parker Dam, CA). This list will be valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position.
The Metropolitan Water District's Water System Operations Group has one opening for Operations & Maintenance Technician IV-Electrical. One (1) position is located at Eagle Mountain.
As an Operations & Maintenance Technician IV – Electrical you will utilize journey level electrical skills, experience and knowledge in the practices, procedures, and methods of installing, maintaining, and repairing complex and general water utility and facility electrical systems. Your activities will include maintaining and improving electrical systems in and associated with pumps, turbines, generators, transformers, motors, and associated facilities and processes, including high voltage overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.You will monitor electrical equipment and systems for operating condition and performance, including predictive and advanced diagnostic testing; preventive and corrective electric maintenance; improving electrical capacity and upgrading systems to meet treatment, conveyance, and distribution electrical operating demands.You will be responsible for: maintaining and improving a variety of electrical components and equipment related to Metropolitan’s revenue-generating assets, systems, supporting facilities, and infrastructure including those within treatment and pump plants, conveyance and distribution structures, reservoirs, hydroelectric plants, and right-of-ways; and ensuring ongoing reliability and uninterrupted electrical service necessary to convey, store, treat, and distribute water and hydroelectric power effectively to member agencies and other customers.Employees in this position will be required to work off-shift hours and/or stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies as required. Pump plant personnel assigned stand-by are required to respond within 15 minutes.
This position is eligible to rent Metropolitan Water District housing.The Incentive Pay program will be setup to provide a Desert Branch Assignment Premium to qualifying employees as follows:5% for all employees assigned to Gene Camp or Intake.15% for all employees assigned to Hinds Pumping Plant, Eagle Mountain, or Iron Mountain.
Schedule: 8/6; 8 Days On (Wed – Wed 6:00am – 4:30pm), 6 Days Off (Thu - Tue)

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: High school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency in addition to a minimum of 6 years in an electrical maintenance position in a pump plant, treatment plant, hydroelectric or conveyance and distribution facility or similar environment.
OR
High school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency in addition to the attainment of journey level skills through a recognized electrical trade training program.
Journey level experience as demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques and practices specific to the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in treatment or pump plants, conveyance and distribution, power generation systems, and related apparatus.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTSLicense(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
