This position will perform other reporting functions, including, but not limited to, the FISAP yearly report for Federally Funded Programs, indirect cost studies, and financial analysis for program review. This position will prepare and publish financial reports for all auxiliary enterprises and agency held funds. This position assists in developing budget scenario analysis. This position assists in ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable financial standards. This position will reconcile deposits between Minnesota State and the Statewide Integrated Financial Tool (SWlFT).
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial reports utilizing ISRS, Power BI, and Excel. Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately in compliance with GASB and GAAP.
- Daily Deposits, Sweeps, and Reconciliations
- Function as a capable backup for essential business office operational areas
- Strengthen internal control processes in accordance with Minnesota State requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner
Minimum Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting and budgeting practices and procedures.
- Ability to provide accurate, detailed analysis of complex information and issues as well as ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret budgets for auditing and reporting requirements.
- Working knowledge and experience in applying the principles of GASB, FASB, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- High degree of technical proficiency in various computer applications, such as: Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Access, and database management and reporting programs including Hyperion.
- Communications skills, both oral and written, necessary to provide accurate information in a tactful and professional manner.
- Ability to communicate accounting concepts, principles, policies, and reports with non accounting clientele in a way that maximizes understanding for all parties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years accounting or budgeting experience; an associate degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal policies and regulations as they relate to the functional areas of the position.
- Two years of higher education experience
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or a finance related field
- CPA certificate
- Strong interpersonal skills that include sensitivity, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
