Meet Dr. Seung Jin Yi

Position Summary

Under the supervision of a physician, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) that Florida Orthopaedic Institute is seeking will assess, plan, and provide direct patient care in both clinical and surgical settings for a high-volume orthopaedics and sports medicine practice. This position supports Dr. Seung Jin Yi, a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a strong focus on sports medicine and general orthopaedics, treating a balanced mix of hip, knee, and shoulder conditions.

This role is designed for an experienced PA who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and transitioning into a high level of clinical independence after onboarding. The PA will be primarily clinic-based, managing patient flow, performing in-office procedures and injections, and providing continuity of care, with limited operating room responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Florida licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of orthopaedic experience required
    (Sports medicine experience strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage patients independently in a busy clinic setting
  • Experience with joint injections and in-office procedures is preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and patient communication skills
  • BLS required (ACLS preferred)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the supervising physician in office, hospital, and surgical settings, including pre-operative, intra-operative (first assist), and post-operative care
  • Conduct comprehensive patient histories, physical examinations, and orthopaedic evaluations for sports medicine and general orthopaedic conditions
  • Manage clinic-based patient care following training, including new patient visits, follow-ups, and post-operative appointments with increasing autonomy
  • Perform in-office procedures and injections in alignment with practice standards and clinical protocols
  • Participate in hospital rounds, inpatient consultations, and discharge planning as required
  • Provide first assist support in surgery as needed, including sports medicine and general orthopaedic cases
  • Write and manage pre-operative, post-operative, and discharge orders for review and countersignature by the supervising physician
  • Perform hospital and emergency department consultations when applicable
  • Apply and remove casts, splints, braces, and other orthopaedic devices
  • Accurately document all patient encounters, treatment plans, and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, rehabilitation protocols, and post-operative care
  • Communicate promptly with the supervising physician regarding unexpected findings, complications, or patient care concerns
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to maintain efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care
  • Adhere to FOI standards related to patient safety, infection control, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Participate in continuing education, in-service training, and professional development activities
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
