About the Opportunity

As an Authorization Department Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the authorization process across multiple CSD regions. You will act as a key liaison between clinical teams, revenue cycle management (RCM), and outsourced partners to ensure seamless communication and efficient workflows. Your responsibilities will include managing authorization approvals, monitoring compliance with payer requirements, and handling various monthly administrative tasks to support accurate and timely reimbursement from insurance carriers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify eligibility and benefits
  • Review and process authorizations and authorization requests, including initiating requests from funding sources
  • Follow up and coordinate requested updates to pending authorization requests and resubmit requests to ensure timely approvals and process
  • Reconcile approved authorization hours against requested hours and follow up with insurance if there are discrepancies
  • Manage denials of authorization requests
  • Enter authorization data accurately and timely into Practice Management systems
  • Provide support to authorization and other RCM team members
  • Address questions and concerns from clinical team members as it relates to authorizations and RCM billing practices
  • Assist in maintaining Practice Management systems as it relates to authorizations and service codes
  • Generate monthly reports to be used in checking eligibility and benefits verification and authorization activity and performance
  • Supervise authorization staff including specialists and coordinators
  • Analyze the authorization process to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains
  • Assist in the implementation of and new technologies or processes to streamline the authorization process
  • Additional job duties as assigned



Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills
  • Computer proficiency required 
  • Familiarity with Central Reach preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with ABA services preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Excel preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting, typing, and computer work.
  • Occasional walking, bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 20 lbs).
  • Occasional driving for client or team meetings.
