Department Summary

The Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) Office is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing effective and meaningful financial aid assistance. FAS is responsible for processing financial aid applications, administrating various financial aid programs, and providing financial aid counseling to students and their families.

Position Overview

This position serves as a team leader within the Financial Aid & Scholarship (FAS) Office Eligibility Team, manages the Professional Judgment (PJ) and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal processes required for the effective, efficient and compliant administration of financial aid, and possesses a high level of expertise regarding federal, state, and institutional aid administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of financial aid administration and/or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

* In-depth knowledge of financial aid administration
* In-depth knowledge of financial aid policy & procedures and/or the ability to quickly assimilate
* Strong attention to detail, analytical, and critical thinking skills
* Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills
* Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
* Ability to effectively communicate with various populations verbally and/or in writing
* Work well on a team or independently
* Strong leadership and diplomacy skills

* Foster collaboration with colleagues and campus partners
* Maintain and continually develop knowledge of financial aid administration rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and best business practices

Required License/Registration/Certifications

As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.

Job Duties

  • Serves as a team lead within the Financial Aid & Scholarship (FAS) Office, responsible for managing financial aid Professional Judgment (PJ) and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal processing while serving as a backup to other verification processes and other Eligibility Team responsibilities. 
  • Manages, monitors, and maintains Profession Judgment and SAP appeal
