Job description

You will be responsible for the overall mechanical design, standardization, and manufacturability of our containerized PEM electrolysers. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, structural design, relevant product standards and integration of process and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience from collaborating with fabrication partners and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams of 10-15 professionals, including process, electrical, and mechanical engineers.

Duties and responsibilities

Lead the mechanical design and development of containerized PEM electrolysers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Drive product standardization efforts to enhance manufacturability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
Collaborate with fabricators and suppliers to optimize mechanical components and ensure design for manufacturability.
Oversee system integration of mechanical, process, and electrical components within containerized units.
Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary engineering team (10-15 engineers) across mechanical, process, and electrical disciplines.
Support installation, commissioning and service of the electrolyser systems, working closely with service and production teams.
Lead or contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis to ensure system reliability and performance.
Stay updated on industry best practices, materials, and innovative technologies in hydrogen production and mechanical system design.
Contribute to shaping and growing the organization.

Qualifications and requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably within hydrogen, energy, or industrial equipment sectors.
Proven expertise in designing containerized systems, pressure vessels, or modular industrial equipment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical standards, CE, ASME and ISO regulations for electrical machinery, pressurized and high-purity gas systems.
Experience working with fabricators and external suppliers to develop manufacturable designs.
Leadership experience managing an engineering team (10-15 people) across mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines.
Proficiency in CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and FEA tools for structural analysis.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
