Job Duties:- Plans, organizes and directs staff in construction and the physical operation of the institution
- Supervises the preparation of comprehensive budgets, maintenance plans and construction
- Conducts on-site institutional inspections/meetings with contracting firms or vendors
- Directs the operation of special projects as assigned
- Attends administrative meetings/briefings
- Trains and supervises Physical Plant subordinate personnel
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Federal, state, and local building codes and construction techniques
- Organizational function and personnel techniques
- Local listing and building code requirements
- Budgetary procedures and methods of record-keeping
- Engineering techniques, methods, and practices
- Common safety practices
- Microsoft Office and Google Suite to create reports, charts and conduct research

- A degree in Engineering from an accredited college, university, or technical school
- One (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience directing the operation and maintenance of a large physical plant, building, or multi-building complex requiring a working knowledge of the application National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and city codes.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.
