Job Description
The Medical Administrative Support is responsible for supervising and assisting in day-to-day administrative duties for the hospital billing department, reception, medical logistics, and allied health departments, including but not limited to scheduling, patient statements, accounts receivable, billing, coding, records keeping, accounts, credentialing and human resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists with day-to-day activities and prioritization of tasks.
- Assists with daily administrative functions for the hospital in general as well as: Human Resources, Finance, Veterinary Services, Environmental Services, Dental Services, and other pertinent departments.
- Assists medical billing and collections including allied health services.
- Assists in credentialing of hospital staff as required with regular reminders when updates are required including all incumbent staff and all new hires on an ongoing basis.
- Assists reception and welcomes patients and visitors into the hospital and offer assistance with any inquires they may have included checking them in for their appointment.
- Assist in answering phone calls and emails in a prompt and efficient manner and routing them to the proper department.
- Coverage for front desk during absences or during lunch breaks as required.
- Active participation in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Verify all items being received and/or shipped to and from the warehouse.
- Remove material from storage and prepare for shipment.
- Note and report discrepancies and obvious damages upon inspection of material.
- Verify accuracy of the daily receiving report/shipping log.
- Maintain records and file paperwork per standard procedures and maintain automated and manual accounting records.
- Route incoming items within the area of operations as directed.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative role preferably in a hospital setting.
- Experience in handling and management of Government Property preferred.
- Medical terminology knowledge highly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Effective verbal and listening skills.
- Time management skills.
- Sound decision making skills.
- An understanding of how computers and printers work and how to resolve basic errors and problems.
Education Required:
Associate Degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
