Job Summary
The Project Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides financial leadership and oversight for hospitals and projects within a designated region. This role serves as the interim CFO for hospitals that are without permanent financial leadership or require additional support on specific projects. The Project CFO is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, monitoring performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role collaborates with hospital leadership, including the CEO and CNO, to achieve financial targets and operational success, while maintaining alignment with the organization's strategic goals.
Essential Functions
- Acts as the interim CFO for hospitals in a designated region, overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Provides financial leadership and direction to hospital leadership teams, supporting the achievement of financial goals and operational objectives.
- Manages financial performance, including revenue growth, cost management, and meeting budgetary goals, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Ensures hospitals comply with all financial regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
- Collaborates with hospital leadership, including the CEO and CNO, to develop financial strategies that support overall hospital performance and mission.
- Oversees cash management, capital planning, and financial audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards.
- Provides financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership, identifying opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and operational improvements.
- Leads the financial planning process for projects, including the development of financial models, risk assessments, and strategic initiatives.
- Travels to hospital sites as required to provide hands-on financial leadership, manage transitions, and support hospital operations during periods of change.
- Works closely with CHS senior management, providing updates on financial performance, project status, and key financial metrics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required
- Master's Degree or CPA preferred
- More than 10 years of financial leadership experience in healthcare, with at least five (5) years in a CFO or senior financial role in a hospital or healthcare setting required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in financial planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
- Proven leadership in managing hospital finances, driving revenue growth, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with hospital leadership and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple financial projects, provide strategic financial guidance, and oversee financial operations across different hospitals.
- Ability to travel extensively as required for project needs and hospital site support.
