Job Description

We're looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented HLA Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our fast-paced, mission-critical histocompatibility lab. This position reports to the Manager of the DPT Philadelphia laboratory.

 

As the HLA Supervisor, you’ll lead and inspire a team of skilled technologists, ensuring the delivery of accurate, high-quality HLA testing for transplant patients and organ donors. You’ll be an integral part of a laboratory that supports an Organ Procurement Organization, playing a vital role in saving lives every day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead Daily Lab Operations: Supervise all aspects of HLA testing workflow to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and on-time STAT results. Stay compliant with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies, including, but not limited to:  facility and equipment maintenance, validation review and approval, training (internal, continuing education, proficiency testing,  etc.)
  • Team Scheduling & Support: Manage staffing to meet production demands, and guide your team through challenges with professionalism and empathy.
  • Quality & Compliance Champion: Partner with QA to resolve SOP deviations and customer complaints; lead timely investigations for quality events.
  • Process Innovator: Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and recommend new technology to keep our lab on the cutting edge.
  • Inventory Oversight: Ensure all supplies and reagents are stocked and ready, supporting uninterrupted testing and excellent patient care.
  • Stay Inspection-Ready: Ensure all operations meet regulatory standards including ASHI, CAP, and CLIA. Meets basic expectations of DPT’s Quality Management System, including but not limited to good workmanship, adherence to standard operational procedures, training, good documentation practices, and accurate recordkeeping so the company may meet its stated quality policy and objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required
  • Certified Histocompatibility Specialist (ACHI) certification

The Ideal Candidates Possess the Following:

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used in HLA testing
  • Ability to organize, communicate, teach, and work with others in an effective manner
  • Ability to manage and schedule the work of others
