The Senior Technology Manager’s primary responsibility is to partner with business stakeholders and deliver technology solutions that accelerate CarMax’s consumer vehicle acquisition strategy. This role leads the strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of a suite of systems focused on driving consumer-sourced vehicle supply through both digital and in-store experiences. 

Consumer Supply is a critical growth engine for CarMax, enabling individuals to sell their vehicles directly to us. This role supports the full lifecycle of that experience—from offer generation to transaction completion—by leveraging cutting-edge technologies and data-driven insights. The Senior Technology Manager will lead cross-functional teams to modernize legacy systems, automate workflows, and build scalable platforms that improve offer competitiveness, streamline operations, and enhance the associate experience. 

We are reimagining the consumer selling journey using advanced technologies such as cloud computing, machine learning, and AI-driven personalization. Our goal is to create a seamless, omni-channel experience that empowers consumers to receive accurate, compelling offers and complete their sale with confidence—whether online or in-store. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of technical fluency, strategic thinking, and customer empathy to lead initiatives that directly impact CarMax’s supply chain, profitability, and customer satisfaction. 
  

Position Requirements: 

• Strategic planning and results focus 
• Identify the appropriate goals for the teams  
• Prioritizing objectives and provide a holistic approach to solution recommendations that includes ROI, time to market, scalability as well as alternative recommendations 

  
Communication 

• Partner with business stakeholders, peer groups, the Technology management team and key associates.  
• Present the vision to executive management. 
• Communicate the vision to executive management while also providing guidance for the team to support the strategic direction.
