Chubb is currently seeking a Senior Property Underwriter to join our team in Schaumburg, IL. 

 

Description: 

 
The Senior Property Underwriter has responsibility for profitable growth and retention of a $7-9M Property book of business for the Schaumburg branch.  The Underwriter would be accountable for new business production and execution of underwriting strategies. Sales and marketing activities are expected for the building and maintaining of internal/external relationships.  We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen. This position will collaborate within a team of other underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management as necessary. 
 
This position will report to the Commercial Insurance Manager in our Schaumburg, IL office. 
 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  

Duties may include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Underwriting duties will include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals while actively identifying account rounding opportunities for other Chubb practices.  
  • Collaborate with other underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management as necessary.  
  • Implement and manage effective pricing and rate strategies that will produce profitability, book growth, and successful producer relations.  
  • Strong sales and marketing skills are critical; must be able to demonstrate successful agency and broker management, including building, maintaining, and managing producer and customer relationships.  
  • Ability to identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.  
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, pricing/rate strategies and how to apply them to attain underwriting profit.  
  • High degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, with a solid background in risk analysis.  
  • Effectively interact with all levels of customers and collaborate with a team of underwriters, claims and loss control personnel 
  • Knowledge and proficiency with technical issues, compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies expected.  

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • 3-5  years Property underwriting experience 
  • Must have proven marketing and negotiation skills 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills  

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Experience underwriting Inland and Ocean Marine coverages is a plus 
  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures 
  • Strong sales and marketing skills:  demonstrate ability to manage accounts, build producer relationships and partner with other Underwriters, Associates and Underwriting Centers to achieve goals and strategies. 
  • Organization and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks; prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced, decision-oriented environment. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills, demonstrated risk analysis and decision-making capabilities including handling complex accounts. 
  • Having a strong Customer Service background with emphasis toward problem solving 
  • Ability to operate in an electronic based environment.
