The Body and Fuel Division, within the Illinois Tool Work (ITW) Automotive segment, drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions and application engineering. Job Description
Summary:
Assistant Warehouse Manager will direct all the shipping functions and distributions of goods and services, whether performing the duties personally or delegating responsibilities to other shipping personnel. The role also includes working closely with customers and the shipping department to assure shipments are accurate and on time.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the shipping, receiving and warehouse operations daily and effectively to motivate strong, consistent work practices
- Demonstrates hands-on leadership and coaching abilities – able to demonstrate examples of empowering, developing & motivating people
- Establish operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and dispositioning of materials and keeping the warehouse inventory current
- Communicates with carriers/drivers, warehouse/office personnel and customers regarding shipment and receipt of product.
- Assists in the scheduling of receiving times, assigns truckers doors, assigns receiving numbers and prepares blind tally.
- Checks outbound / inbound orders for accuracy and proper signatures, i.e., picked by and checked by truck driver; for over, short and damage reports for receipts.
- Maintains log for accurate records of all product movement for inbound, outbound, staged orders and yard management.
- Assists in the scheduling of shipping times.
- Monitor attendance points/ issue discipline for all associates.
- Review and approve timecards to ensure that employees’ working hours are correctly recorded and completed.
- Address quality issues with QC Supervisor prior to shipping
- Continually inspect and maintain the physical condition of warehouse and equipment, making sure needed repairs are completed
- Spearhead and participate in daily safety meetings, weekly driver meetings and start up/turn over meetings
- Complete any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years experience as Shipping Supervisor in fast-paced distribution environment required
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook
- Experienced in operating a forklift and pallet jack required
- Experienced using scanning equipment and shrink wrappers required
- Must have experience with MRP systems preferably Trans4M.
- Must be able to fluctuate hours based on customer mandated window times
- Must have 2+ years of automotive experience.
- Effective problem resolution skills combined with “big picture” awareness
