BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

The Compliance Accountant conducts and documents routine agency reporting accounting projects under general supervision. Analyzes and records accounting transactions related to Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) royalty reporting and compliance. Collaborates with Federal and Indian compliance team to complete monthly royalty reporting, wire requests, and data maintenance within the accounting system.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related Business field

 

EXPERIENCE

Experience within the oil and gas industry preferred. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an understanding of the principles, theories, and concepts of accounting and apply them to assignments such as preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of compliance reports.
  • Develop and apply an understanding of financial and accounting analysis and problem solving
  • Begin developing and promoting sound recommendations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department
  • Develop an understanding of the control environment and comply with control procedures
  • Prepare and submit monthly agency royalty filings
  • Ensure compliance with the governmental regulatory bodies
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the assigned agency representatives

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • SAP experience preferred
  • Practice safe work habits at all times
  • Demonstrate commitment to Devon Attributes
  • Competency in word processing and excel
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of computer based accounting systems and technology
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities, tasks, and deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical and evaluation skills
