Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our prestigious single-specialty orthopedic clinic in Redwood City, set within an academic environment. This clinic provides access to a team of highly skilled surgeons and physicians committed to delivering state-of-the-art, patient-centered care across the continuum of treatment.
In this role, the APP will function at the top of their licensure, managing fully independent clinic responsibilities while also taking on first assist duties in the operating room. You will collaborate with a dynamic and collegial team of 5 orthopedic surgeons (MDs) and 5 APPs in a spacious, high-functioning clinic focusing on joint orthopedic conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Independently manage patient care in both shared and autonomous practice settings.
• Provide first assist in the operating room, working closely with attending surgeons.
• Perform clinical duties including initial patient consultations, follow-up visits, and postoperative care.
• Participate in cutting-edge orthopedic research and contribute to academic endeavors within the clinic.
• Maintain a Monday to Friday work schedule, typically from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required.
Qualifications:
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with prior orthopedic experience preferred.
• For NP candidates, an active RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification is required at the time of application.
• Strong desire to work in a collaborative academic setting and contribute to the growth of the practice.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

A Brief Overview
The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the PA and his/her supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, the Credentials & Privileges Committee, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee and the SHC Board Credentials, Policies and Procedures Committee.

  • A. A PA may provide only those medical services which he/she is competent to perform, which are consistent with the PA’s education, training and experience.
  • B. A PA shall consult with a physician regarding any task, procedure or diagnostic problem which the PA determines exceeds his/her level of competence or shall refer such cases to a supervising physician.
  • C. Scope of Practice of the PA:
  • 1. Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty.
  • 2. Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients.
  • 3. Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient.
  • Orders or furnishes medications under physician supervision, in accordance with the practice agreement, consistent with the PA’s educational preparation and training, and upon completion of a California Physician Assistant Board approved controlled substance course.
