LYON COUNTY NOXIOUS WEED/HAZARDOUS WASTE DEPT. is seeking an Administrative Assistant to perform secretarial, bookkeeping, and administrative duties. This employee will handle department finances, prepare regular reports, answer department phones, and assist customers. This employee will provide recommendations to the public as well as sell and distribute chemicals for noxious weed control. The Administrative Assistant may also assist the department in unloading, bulking, and segregating household hazardous waste received at the facility. This is a full-time non-exempt position starting at $17.00/hr. (or higher depending on experience) with benefits including paid time off and health/dental/vision insurance.
Candidates must be bondable, possess a valid Drivers License, and pass background check, drug screen, and physical tests prior to hire. High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required, and candidates must have or be able to obtain current certification and licenses including Hazardous Materials Awareness Level Certification. Two years of general office experience including secretarial, accounting, and computer operations is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- JOB SUMMARY: This is An FLSA non-exempt position*. Persons in this position perform a range of duties that include secretarial, bookkeeping, and administrative duties for both the noxious weed department and the household hazardous waste department.
The roles, responsibilities, job functions, knowledge, skills and abilities set forth herein may be revised from time-to-time in order to comply with federal and state laws, departmental needs and the changing requirements for this position.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- a. Post receipts and disbursements to individual accounts, prepares statements, handles the collection of accounts receivable, makes deposits at the Treasurers Office.
- b. Reconciles invoices, prepares payment vouchers, and prepares bids.
- c. Sell and distribute chemicals for noxious weed control to the general public, calculates average price rates for the chemicals.
- d. Makes recommendations to the public on noxious weed control and household hazardous waste disposal.
- e. Records and prepares reports of disposition of chemicals, labor and equipment.
- f. Prepares monthly; quarterly, and annual reports.
- g. Performs receptionist and secretarial duties including answering phone, waiting on customers, receiving and sending correspondence, maintaining files, purchases and maintains office supply inventory.
- h. Unloads, identifies and segregates household hazardous waste received at facility. Bulks oils, solvents and paints.

- MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- a. Perform related duties as assigned by Director.
- b. Attend both required and selected seminars or training programs.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- a. Requires current Class C drivers license.
- b. Must maintain current certification and licenses common to this position including the Hazardous Materials Awareness Level Certification.
