Brown & Brown is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing Atlanta-based team! This individual reports directly to the Regional Finance Leader and is responsible for leading the accounting function for the National Brokerage Region. The Assistant Controller oversees many day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department and completes much of the month end close.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.

  • Prepares various month end and quarter end journal entries and templates.

  • Completes and submits the monthly, quarterly, and annual COACH CSA's.

  • Assists with preparation of the annual budget.

  • Reconciles bank statements, accounts receivables, insurance company payables, vendor payables and surplus lines taxes.

  • Performs daily positive pay procedures.

  • Performs the weekly MRDB reporting.

  • Ensures compliance with corporate data retention guidelines.

  • Prepares and gathers required documents for audit.

  • Reviews expense reports.

  • Oversees supplier expenses, invoices, and payments.

  • Monitors aged receivables to ensure collection of aged accounts in a timely manner.

  • Monitors insurance company payables balances and credit aged receivables balances.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Required:

  • College Degree with emphasis in business.

  • Five to ten years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.  May also possess the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of Word, Windows, and Excel.

Preferred:

  • Financial services company and agency experience. Experience should include financial services, accounting, or other related business experience.
