The Opportunity
We are looking to recruit a detail-oriented, Accounts Assistant. As a key member of the finance team, the Accounts Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting services. You will be responsible for managing core financial processes, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and contributing to the overall efficiency and growth of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices, staff expenses, and credit card transactions.
- Assist with daily and monthly tasks for the Financial Accountant
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist with monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
- Accounts payable/receivable management.
- Generate customer invoices, identify discrepancies, and ensure timely customer communications along with relevant timesheet reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely posting of transactions
- Support month-end processes and management accounts preparation
- Maintain accurate ledger and project accounting records
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.
- Support the timely payment of creditors and general accounting transactions
- Manage a range of ad-hoc financial reports to support internal decision-making
Skills and Experience:
- A degree in Finance or related field; actively pursuing a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end procedures
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts
- Familiarity with IFRS, GAAP, and basic bookkeeping procedures
- Solid knowledge of accounting regulations and compliance
- Strong Excel skills; experience with accounting software (Sage, CoreTime, HubSpot & HR Duo is a plus)
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Proven technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-first mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
