About the team
Product Compliance serves as a key risk management function that enables Stripe to launch and operate safe, compliant, and world-class financial infrastructure products through dedicated compliance subject matter support. We are a group of strategic-minded and collaborative compliance professionals that partner cross-functionally to develop and scale our core regulated product suite.
What you’ll do
We’re looking for a seasoned compliance professional experienced in working with financial partners to support advising product, engineering, and operational teams on compliance, risk, and control development. In this role, you will partner closely with Compliance and cross functional stakeholders to understand and inventory financial partner obligations, scope requirements into product development efforts, and support the maintenance of our key relationships. You will work across product verticals and compliance subject matter areas to assess our compliance with financial partner obligations and deploy mechanisms to ensure ongoing compliance.
Responsibilities
- Establish a foundational understanding of all of Stripe’s financial partner obligations and assess our compliance posture
- Work across Product Compliance to ensure financial partner requirements are sufficiently addressed through product solutions or new operational builds
- Support product governance efforts on behalf of Stripe’s Compliance organization, including working cross-functionally with subject matter experts to align on compliance requirements with our financial partners, track implementation of those requirements ahead of key launch milestones, and monitoring ongoing compliance
- Provide operational and compliance subject matter support to cross-functional teams as they design and implement workflows, tooling, and reporting
- Support the Global Product Compliance function in defining and achieving departmental initiatives, maintaining product support playbooks and best practices, developing and documenting scalable solutions, and liaising with external parties
- Contribute to building a strong culture of compliance across Stripe’s teams
Who you are

Minimum requirements
- 8+ years of experience working in compliance advisory role, ideally in a financial technology company or in the payments industry
- Demonstrated track record of working with financial partners on regulatory compliance matters including, but not limited to: financial crimes, licensing requirements, regulatory reporting, financial product obligations, consumer compliance, conduct risk, complaints handling, money transmission / e-money rules
- Experience evaluating emerging products for compliance risk, working with the product and business stakeholders to implement creative solutions to tough compliance requirements, and conducting compliance reviews of new products and marketing materials
- Comfort with building or expanding on existing compliance program infrastructure to incorporate oversight of financial partner requirements, including developing new processes and workflows
- The ability to identify and define problems, build project plans to address them, and manage implementation of their solution
- The ability to effectively communicate across various lines of business and senior management
- An ambitious sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore areas outside of your comfort zone, like new markets or new product types
- The ability to work efficiently and independently in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment, with a strong understanding of when to escalate urgent issues
- Respect for and interest in financial rules and regulations, as well as an eagerness to innovate and drive the industry forward
