Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a strategic team within one of the country’s top academic medical institutions.  The Project Management Associate will fill a crucial role as project manager for major strategic projects supporting comprehensive planning and performance at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

The position is part of the Baylor Improvement Group (BIG) under the Office of the Chief Operating Officer.  BIG supports organizational change by improving ROI and ensuring sustainability of change.  As part of this role, BIG facilitates annual strategic planning and reporting and provides project management for prioritized major strategic initiatives   Projects supported by this role will include a wide range of initiatives in alignment with 3-5 year executive goals to advance the College’s Strategic Plan.    
  
The ideal candidate will have experience in full-cycle project management, preferably in an academic medical environment.  Experience in strategic planning and project portfolio management is also desirable.  Strong communication and relationship-building skills are important to this role, which will interact with a wide range of stakeholders.  

 

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.   The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000.

Job Duties

  • Provides full-cycle project management services on multiple, concurrent projects tied directly to the College’s strategic goals.   This includes project planning, project execution, maintenance of project documentation, handoff to operations, and closure 
  • Supports creation of the business case, including strategic context, feasibility, requirements, and benefits/return on investment 
  • Takes a proactive role to support project success, working with the project team and stakeholders to push the project forward 
  • Works with project leadership to create successful project structures – project team, project resources, project plan 
  • Performs change management to ensure stakeholder support and successful transition to operations 
  • Provides training and guidance to improve planning and execution of strategic projects  
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the College to facilitate successful project execution 
  • Supports and ensures quality of data and reporting by working with groups to meet and maintain standards 
  • Assists on efforts to build infrastructure needed at BCM to facilitate effective change 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of assisting with strategic planning, project portfolio management and/or project management experience, preferably in an academic medical, pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization
  • Lean, Agile, or PMI certifications (PMP or related)
