Position Description
The Virtual Primary Care Associate Medical Director is responsible, under the direction of the VPC Medical Director, for assisting in managing, implementing and growing the Virtual Primary Care service line, inclusive of clinical care delivery, clinical quality, the MDLIVE Provider life cycle. Responsibilities include support for care pathway development and process improvement, credentialing, onboarding, engagement, and education. The VPC Associate Medical Director maintains 30% time spent in direct patient care/clinical practice.
- Essential Job Functions
- Role assists VPC Medical Director in coordinating and directing all clinical and administrative aspects of the Virtual Primary Care service line.
- Providing consultation to MDLIVE Providers and other staff on clinical standards, practice, competency, and productivity.
- Assists in optimizing, developing and implementing clinical care practice review systems and improvements.
- Assists in developing, maintaining, and overseeing Virtual Primary Care clinical priority needs for direct care services, serving as “doctor of the day,” and recommending adjustments to staffing levels accordingly.
- Participating in Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI), Patient Safety Council, clinical program development and lead committees as directed.
- Serving as a subject matter resource for primary care and clinical direct care process, and guideline and policy development.
- Participating in the development and coordination of plan for patient care and involvement as a consultant in decisions where Virtual Primary Care clinical practice is impacted.
- Planning, implementing, and reporting the results of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven clinical quality improvement projects that are designed to monitor the effectiveness of the Virtual Primary Care program.
- Providing leadership, counsel, and instruction to internal employees and contractors on both clinical and administrative matters as they pertain to the Virtual Primary Care program.
- Serve as resource for MDLIVE sales and marketing team related to Virtual Primary Care for internal and external facing materials, client engagement, and sales.
- Supports NCQA accreditation and recertification activities for Virtual Primary Care, including alignment of clinical workflows, quality measures, documentation, and provider education with NCQA standards.
- Effecting disciplinary and remediation measures of clinical providers.
- Collaboration with product and strategy for Virtual Primary Care program growth and development.
- Maintaining 30% of time spent in clinical practice. This activity maintains skills and informs VPC experience.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Knowledge of primary care systems and levels of care

- Proven efficiencies in care coordination, care collaboration, and resource identification
- Knowledge and experience in primary care symptoms and diagnoses, including recommended treatment paths and referral navigation
- Experience in working with patients with medical concerns spanning uncomplicated acute to complex chronic disease management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
- Proficient in technology
- Advanced oral/written communication skills.
- Experience with data analytics
Education and Experience
- MD or DO
- Board Certification in Primacy Care specialty, e.g., Family Medicine, Pediatrics or Internal Medicine
- 3+ years experience post residency working in the field, with aspects of both clinical care and administrative duties
