 Under the office of the CTO, the Yahoo Platforms Engineering (YPE) group enables all of the Yahoo verticals to develop and deliver the best possible products to our customers globally with the highest standards. Yahoo’s Platforms Engineering organization creates modern, secure, and efficient software platforms to power all of Yahoo’s brands at scale.

The YPE team is looking for an experienced AI/ML Architect to help guide Yahoo’s transformation into the public cloud.  The YPE team provides central platforms and products, governance, security and cloud enablement to all Yahoo business units.  The ideal candidate will work closely with all Yahoo business units and AI/ML researchers to provide AI/ML cloud guidance and build new solutions, or enhance existing standards to meet business needs.    

Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with engineers and architects across the organization

• Enhance the AI/ML developer productivity tools in a cross functional role

• Nurture and grow the AI/ML community

• Help determine what Yahoo platforms will best fit in the cloud

• Build on existing and create new standards that leverage the AI/ML ecosystem

• Bring your depth of cloud knowledge to helping evaluate and choose the right AI/ML cloud service offerings

• Ensure all adopted platforms, either created or a leveraged service, are secure and governed

• Orchestrate the entire cloud platform environment; including kubernetes and related cloud services

• Be curious about finding the right solutions to problems

• Enhance standards and “paved roads” to the benefit of all engineering

Required Skills:

• Prior developer productivity tooling experience

• Great teamwork and communication skills

• An engineering leader

• 5+ years experience working in the cloud

• Experience building and deploying large-scale systems

• Experience with AWS services: SageMaker, EKS

• Experience with GCP services: Vertex AI, AutoML, Cloud Composer

• Experience with cloud neutral solutions like MLflow

• Experienced in writing CloudFormation or Terraform

• Experience leveraging AWS/GCP APIs

• Experience with end-to-end automation and CI/CD workflows

• Excellent troubleshooting skills

• Proficient with Kubernetes

• Proficient in coding in their favorite language (Go, Python, Java, Ruby)

• Experienced in training others

The compensation for this position ranges from $160,965.00 - $349,885.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
