The LA County Board of Supervisors recently declared a local state of emergency for homelessness, and the County is working to revise and expand our response to help all who are affected. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us in the mission of addressing issues like housing, mental health, and substance use. Department of Health Services Community Programs, Office of Diversion and Reentry seek qualified candidates to fill emergency Assistant Staff Analyst, Health Services Community Programs vacancies related to the homelessness crisis. 


Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

Before your initial work period ends, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

 

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment as Assistant Staff Analyst in Health Services Community Programs.

 ABOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES:
 

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second-largest municipal health system in the nation. Through its unified system of 23 health centers and four hospitals, as well as its expanded network of community partner clinics, DHS annually provides direct care to over 500,000 patients, employs more than 23,000 staff, and has an annual budget exceeding $8.4 billion.

Through academic affiliations with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC), and the Charles R. THE MISSION:

DEFINITION:

Assists in research and analysis and makes recommendations regarding using and deploying resources and implementing and refining operations and programs within the Department of Health Services.


CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:

Positions allocable to this class are restricted to the Department of Health Services. They are distinguished by their responsibility for organizing and carrying out their assignments with relative independence from supervision. Incumbents analyze and make recommendations for the effective use of resources and personnel, implementing and improving programs and operations, and refining management practices and policies having department-wide impact. Incumbents work out their analyses and recommendations without assistance before submitting them to the supervisor for discussion and review. Once these are approved, the incumbents proceed with considerable independence and function in all aspects of the assignment within the limits of acceptable practices and administrative policy. Positions in this class also perform special assignments and projects as directed.
