Sr. Laboratory Technician

Position Summary:

The Senior Technician will perform, document, and conduct analytical tests within the laboratory requiring the use of applied knowledge and practical skills learned from on-the-job experience; assist with and occasionally perform specialized and non-routine tests and assays, and to maintain records of such work; to coordinate and plan assigned work with other technicians and scientists and maintain a safe and clean laboratory work environment.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Operates basic laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, ovens, etc.
• Functions as a primary data generator, records and calculates data.
• Performs routine lab and department maintenance to keep area clean and orderly.
• Conducts preliminary interpretation of data or observations and drafts short reports to scientists.
• Carries out assignments in a timely, diligent, and safe manner.
• Assures adherence to safety regulations.
• Assures adherence to Nestlé quality documents and good laboratory practice.

 

 

Job Qualifications (Minimum Education, Experience, and Knowledge)

• High School diploma or equivalent required; undergraduate degree in closely related science preferred (i.e. Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, et al.)
• Relevant academic coursework of 1-year practical relevant experience in an analytical laboratory preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications:  Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
• English Language Skills (Basic reading writing, speaking, etc.)
• Professionalism
• Ability to perform trained tasks at an above base level efficiency pace.
• Contributes to a team environment and builds effective relationships.
• Organized
• Independent, self-starter
• Ability to work with a diverse team.
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Can execute non routine tasks with little supervision.
