About the Role:
As a Software Engineer for Language Systems, you will join a team that develops innovative mobile and desktop applications in a complex, cross-platform environment. Our work is centered on improving assistive communication tools, ensuring that individuals with disabilities can effectively express themselves. You will contribute to the evolution of our language models, improve our software architecture, and work with experts in linguistics, speech-language pathology, and machine learning to refine and advance our solutions.
 

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and deploy products across multiple operating systems.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of application language models.
• Explore, evaluate, recommend, and process language data sources.
• Assist in implementing and optimizing natural language data processing tools.
• Work closely with linguists and speech-language pathologists to enhance communication technologies.
• Modularize architectural components to maximize scalability and minimize code duplication.
• Contribute to architectural and API improvements.
• Debug and analyze code issues using static analysis and platform-specific debugging tools.
• Implement clear and well-documented APIs for use in higher-level code.
• Follow and advocate for best coding practices within the team.
   

What We're Looking For:

• A B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience (1-3 years in software engineering).
• A strong background in linguistics, natural language processing (NLP), or a related field.
• Preferably 1+ years of experience working with C#, Python, and SQL.
• Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as C#, C++, Java, or Objective-C.
• Familiarity with NLP and machine learning libraries (NLTK, NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, spaCy, etc.).
• Experience working in Linux environments, particularly with a command-line interface (CLI) and shell scripting.
• Working knowledge of regular expressions.
• Prior experience with localization processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management.
