Position Description

If you love high profile and challenging projects supporting the Navy - Serco has a great opportunity for you!  This Mid-Level Logistician position will be on a dynamic team responsible for engineering support, acquisition management and life cycle support of surface naval platforms for our customer in Tidewater, Virgina area.

 

This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active Secret Level Clearance.  This position is also contingent upon an award of contract.

Serco supports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) including support for the design, acquisition, testing and sustainment of naval vessels.   You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer to deliver management, engineering, acquisition, and logistics support required to conduct RDT&E trials, system installations and maintenance, and sustainment in support of Navy vessels.  Serco has been supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command for over 50 years and has been recognized by the Navy for their outstanding contributions.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the overall planning, direction and success of major projects, systems development efforts, and research or technology initiatives which have great significance to NAVSEA. Programs are typically large, multi-year efforts divided into several sub-programs/tasks.
  • Support overall program definition, organization, and direction of short- and long-range plans.
  • Integrate the spectrum of the logistics processes within the operational, acquisition and wholesale environments.
  • Support the integrated logistics process, developing support policies, procedures and systems, and providing implementation guidance.
  • Prepare and implement directives to ensure effective logistics support and establish and enforce standards to ensure that the assigned work force is properly trained and equipped.
  • Develop, initiate, integrate and manage all logistics actions associated with life cycle management of weapon systems, subsystems and equipment.
  • Assist staff in moderately technical aspects of project work.
  • Acquire a working knowledge of customer databases and of the types of information stored in each file.
  • Assist in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.
  • As required, verbally present information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.
  • Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in Logistics Management. 
  • Experience in the operation, management and sustainment of maritime vessels.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office software to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Power Point.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
