Associate Lab Analyst

Support refinery operations by performing and reporting both routine and non-routine analyses. Perform general maintenance and troubleshooting functions on analyzers as needed. Monitor quality control charts and interact with other analysts and refinery personnel.

• Perform analyses and report data.
• Maintain analytical specialization in laboratory areas.
• Assist with training of other Lab Anaysts as needed.
• Validate data for product certification and generate Certificates of Analysis for product and intermediate tanks.
• General instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Write and update lab procedures as needed.
• Performs special projects as assigned by Laboratory Manager.
• Other duties as assigned. 

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Physics, or related field required.
• Minimum of one year of directly related laboratory experience required. 
• Able to work weekends and nights required.
• Able to work a rotating 12-hour shift required.
• Bachelor's or higher level degree in Chemistry preferred.
• Required to work in a collaborative, on-site work environment, which will include participation in unscheduled discussions and troubleshooting on an as-needed basis.
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Meraux Refinery, required.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
