Our Private Equity and Mergers and Acquisition (PEMA) team is seeking candidates for the following position based in our New York or Boston office. This role is a hybrid position and will require 3 days in office.

PEMA Portfolio Manager

What can you expect?

  • Monitor implementation and execution of portfolio strategy for the Private Equity firm and its portfolio companies.

  • Develop strong relationships with senior management at the Private Equity firm and its portfolio companies as well as with the local Marsh service teams and broking teams. 

  • Act as the central point of contact for the Private Equity firm and its portfolio companies and successfully liaise with the local service teams

  • Monitor renewal process for all portfolio company clients

  • Provide the Private Equity firm and its portfolio companies with an annual stewardship report.

  • Grow Marsh’s penetration into the portfolio by generating new business opportunities for portfolio companies not presently serviced by Marsh

We will count on you to:

  • Manages the strategy for a given portfolio program by setting goals, assuring service standards meet or exceed client expectations, and protecting the firm from Errors & Omissions (E&O).

  • Leads client and prospect appointments and identifies and executes cross-selling opportunities with existing portfolio companies and new business opportunities within the private equity firm’s portfolio

  • Schedules and leads/participates in pre-renewal meetings for major portfolio companies and coordinates the renewal business with the local office service teams as well as with PEMA and specialty broker teams.

  • Identifies opportunities for loss cost reduction across the portfolio

  • Works with Private Equity fund Senior Relationship Officer and Client Executive to liaison with Private Equity fund clients to keep them apprised of portfolio company developments and general insurance market updates

  • Analyzes client and prospect research and industry issues to identify opportunities for collaboration across Practices, geographies and MMC companies

What you need to have: 

  • Successful candidate should have at least 10 years of client management with either insurance and/or risk management experience. 

  • Has strong written, oral and presentation skills to communicate at all levels of the organization

  • Exhibits solid strategic analysis, problem solving, issue resolution and decision-making skills.

  • Understands business planning concepts.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, broad based project management experience and outstanding client focus.

  • Strong management skills required to lead teams in achievement of goals and objectives.

  • General knowledge of core business consulting, processes, and methodologies. Proven ability to successfully manage projects of varying complexity.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

What makes you stand out:

  • The successful candidate will have a good understanding of financial concepts, experience managing demanding clients and overseeing client service teams,

  • a desire to help grow PEMAs book of business and a proven ability to think and work independently.

  • A strong knowledge of insurance is preferred, but not required.

  • Consulting experience within Insurance or Financial services highly preferred
