About the role

The Seventh Judicial District is seeking internal applicants to fill a working Court Operations Supervisor position; this position will supervise staff on the Seventh Judicial District’s Probate Team. This position is being posted as an internal promotional opportunity available to current Minnesota Judicial Branch Employees. The anticipated start date for this position is July 29, 2026.

The Court Operations Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the Probate Team, administering and enforcing all relevant rules and policies. This position requires extensive working knowledge of the probate case types. Reviewing, evaluating, planning and streamlining daily functions and working with the public, judges, court staff, partnering with county and state agencies to ensure that cases are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the court administrator and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and on the basis of results obtained. As this position may be working partially remotely, access to a reliable internet connection is required during this time.

 

Example of Duties:

  • Supervise staff including hiring, training, coaching, reviewing, disciplining of staff.

  • Supervise matters relating to the maintenance of financial control over receipts and disbursements. Provide orientation and training to staff members regarding new legislation that impact all divisions.

  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to comply with statutes and procedures that impact record retention and accessibility; change unit procedure or policy to simplify work processes so the unit works more efficiently or to comply with statutes.

  • Maintain employee personnel records and payroll.

  • Maintain equipment, supervise division purchases and budget. 

  • Train and oversee employees on case and individual document confidentiality/public access.

  • Develop and implement management principles and operational strategies to improve workflow efficiencies, team cross-training and customer service in a high-volume environment.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, justice agency partners, and other court divisions to build trust, increase efficiencies and ensure the fair and timely processing of court processes.

  • Resolve complex probate case related issues and office questions. 

  • Order reports and compile data/trends from the centralized unit to make proactive recommendations for improvement. Lead the centralized team through changes independently. Analyze and make recommendations for consistent improvement in our workflow to maintain districtwide consistency in case processing.

  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings for the centralized probate team, judicial officers, and justice partners.

  • Routinely handle complex and difficult matters in the probate case types independently. A statewide Subject Matter Expert (SME) that has great knowledge of the probate case types, court rules, policies, CAPs and statutes.

  • Serve as a committee member on probate or process advisory teams and/or be a resource for information on procedural questions for MMG, MMC, civil
