Who We Are


Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

Who You Are


You are a hard worker who enjoys being outdoors. You are attentive to detail and capable of maintaining and organizing a range of data products for reference. You are an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. This important skill will be used both for managing staff performance and ore control products to Operators and their managers. You are a strong leader who drives projects forward and takes pride in the output of their team. You are familiar with mining procedures and hazards in an open pit mine. Familiarity with mining terminology is a plus.


This is a safety sensitive position. As the Sr Geologist, you report to Chief Geologist, and are responsible for managing a team of samplers and Ore Control Geologists.  Sampling staff must be expected to deliver accurate samples on time and of a consistent quality. Sampling must be carried out in all weather conditions and around operating equipment at times. Managing the safe operation, and accountability of the staff, while meeting expectations is the upmost importance.


What You Do

  • Monitor and evaluate the exploration model periodically in accordance with re-modeled and updated reserves, grades, rock types and sections in relation to long- and short-term targets and goals. Report on, communicate and supply insight and recommendations to a mine planning team as well as upper management. 
  • Manage reporting and data related to ore grade, tonnage, and dilution. Including reconciliation of benches, individual mining areas and stockpiles, creating detailed comparisons between both the production and exploration model reserves. Produce mining efficiency reports and data relevant to the investigation and mitigation of common dilution factors and miss-classification. 
  • Continually evaluate, report, and provide recommendations on any/all issues related to dilution, including interference of historical mining (addits, stoping, shafts), blast movement, over excavating/under excavating, material loss on free faces, density studies, discrepancies/inaccuracies within topographic surfaces to create and sustain a constant and minimal dilution rate to aid in mining efficiency. 
  • Manage a team that is responsible for the upkeep of production blasthole model and drill hole database to ensure proper quality control techniques, training, and procedures in a fashion that properly secures data integrity and accuracy. 
  • Provide data analytics to mine operation data and collaborate with dispatch department and planning team when necessary.
