Creative Effects are a big part of the TikTok experience. From Versailles Run to Dancing Dino, effects make content creation easy, and fun. Each effect has the potential to reach TikTok’s global community of a billion+ users and inspire new trends, lots of joy, and endless creativity. Our mission is to inspire user creativity with powerful creation tools. We are building Effect House, the official Augmented Reality creation tool for TikTok. If you are passionate about AR technologies and 3D content creation, you came to the right place.

You will be responsible for crafting the technology that enables intuitive effect development and design. From advanced interactions to visual scripting, you’ll build the tools our creators need to experiment and make engaging, immersive, and innovative effects, bringing creativity to (augmented) reality! You will focus on building a unified algorithm system that delivers numerous cutting-edge AR algorithms to various TikTok products. Our AR Effect Platform enables the breakthrough AR interactive experience, consumed by hundreds of millions of TikTok users around the world.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement innovative features for TikTok's Effect House, the platform's special effects editor.
- Provide robust support to our rapidly growing effect creator community and internal effect production team, enabling them to realize their creative vision.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model.
- Experience with Typescript.
- Understanding of Web based development, and component-based development pattern, familiarity with React, Angular 2.0+, Vue.js, or any other equivalent library/framework
- Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field with 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience with Electron, React Native and client-side development is a plus.
- Experience with UI Testing Automation framework such as Jest or React Testing Library is a plus.
- Familiarity with game engines (Unity/Unreal) and real-time rendering, animation, and VFX pipelines is a plus.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
