Position Summary:

The Commercial Energy Manager – Energy Storage is responsible for the short and long-term operational and economic optimization of customer energy storage portfolios.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops long and mid-term optimization strategies for TPS energy storage customer portfolios in multiple markets
  • Monitors performance of portfolio strategies and TPS’ Origen algorithmic energy storage optimization engine daily and longer-term performance
  • Investigates performance issues and bring issues to attention of Origen team where necessary
  • Manages and develops benchmarks for performance of optimization engine both independently and along with Origen team
  • Configures Origen appropriately for market conditions, customer risk appetite, and customer preferences
  • Serves as front-line support for customer questions about Origen plans and decisions.
  • Using insights gained from first-hand experience during daily use, works closely with Strategic Technology to continuously improve Origen
  • Works with Business Solutions team to improve user interface for Origen from a customer perspective
  • Understands and stays abreast of market rules and requirements as they apply to battery operation and optimization
  • Understands and maintains familiarity with energy-storage specific engineering, performance and cost concerns
  • Dependable, reliable, and predictable attendance is required

Education/Experience/Skills

Basic Requirements:

  • Strong computer and analytical skills and proficiency with database, spreadsheet, real-time, and internet applications required
  • Ability to prioritize assigned projects, multi-task, and confidently make critical decisions in a fast- paced environment
  • Must have strong customer service, time management, organizational skills, and written/verbal communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in and understanding of multiple programming languages a plus
  • Proficiency with manipulation and analysis of data with Python and Visual Studio Code is strongly desired
  • Experience with or education on optimization theory topics is strongly desired
  • Experience with data exploration and analysis tools such as Tableau, Apache Superset, Dundas, and Grafana is strongly desired
