Profile Summary
Resolution Life US seeks to recruit an experienced dynamic executive to join the finance leadership team as Chief Accounting Officer. This executive will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and functional expertise to all aspects of the financial reporting and operational control processes including but not limited to financial reporting, accounting operations, SOX, technical accounting/policy and Investment Accounting.  The role will help provide leadership to an important financial system implementation as well as the company’s multi-year financial, actuarial, investments and risk transformation, further enabling it to scale for the company’s growth.

Profile Responsibilities

  • Serve as part of a global finance and accounting team representing the US business while providing support for the global organization.  Resolution geographic portfolio currently includes US, Bermuda and Australia, but may further expand globally.
  • Establish and maintain an effective system of internal controls over financial processes and reporting.
  • Partner with global Group Accounting team to lead all financial reporting requirements, accounting policy and accompanying analysis (US GAAP and STAT Reporting).
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with Federal, state, and international laws, rules, regulations, and requirements relating to the financial accounting, reporting, and controls.
  • Provide executive level oversight and direct the accounting operations unit.
  • Partner with Actuarial and Tax teams to ensure appropriate financial reporting of reserves, DAC, tax and all related balance sheet accounts reliant on actuarial and tax processes.
  • Partner with Investments and Financial Planning & Analysis teams to ensure appropriate financial reporting of asset valuation, investment income, and loss provisions and all related accounts.
  • Interpret and analyze operating results.
  • Oversee the company’s accounting change implementations including LDTI and PGAAP, while working closely with Group towards a common implementation timeline.  Relatedly, represent and influence accounting policy considerations.
  • Interact effectively with Resolution Life’s US Management team as well as Resolution Life Group global team based in the US, Bermuda, Australia and the UK.
  • Support financial due diligence of prospective deals.



Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA Required
  • 15+ years financial and management accounting experience (minimally 3 years in public accounting, preferably Big 4 firms) including at least 10 years of managerial/supervisory leadership experience.
  • 10+ years of proven technical accounting experience gained in a supervisory capacity at life insurance or annuity company.   Comprehensive understanding of the life and annuity insurance business from end to end – both business and process prospective including knowledge of life and annuity regulations for accounting and financial reporting highly preferred.
