BASIC FUNCTION:
The Director of Student Affairs manages the overall development and delivery of academic support for students, including planning and executing major student-focused events, such as orientation, graduation, and admissions. This person serves as the primary liaison to central campus administration for student support services, including but not limited to housing, veterans' affairs, disability services, and mental health. He or she will serve as the primary financial aid officer for the distribution of the school's scholarships and awards. This person will provide guidance and input on key operational and systems initiatives impacting any aspect of student life.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
May supervise administrative/clerical and student or wage employees. Reports to the Office of the Dean Perform other duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include the deans, faculty, students and representatives of student organizations within the university. External contacts include affiliated schools, hospitals, alumni, vendors, and the general public.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provides leadership and organization in administering all student support services, including but not limited to financial aid, academic records, registration, admissions, recruitment, and retention.
Initiates, implements, and interprets policies and procedures for students, staff, faculty, and university administrators consistent with the strategic vision and mission of the School of Divinity.
Develops effective communication materials to enhance student awareness of services offered.
Responds to inquiries from school constituencies and determines the appropriate resolution to their concerns.
Represents student affairs at meetings. Assess the effectiveness of office procedures to ensure service goals are being met and recommends changes when appropriate.
Responsible for staff performance standards and evaluations. Perform related responsibilities as required.
Coordinate with university student services offices and other campus offices.
Works to enhance student community life through events (virtual and in person).
Manages enrollment personnel and student recruitment and retention strategies.
Chairs or co-chairs chapel committee and chapel services.
Supports students' spiritual formation.
Assigns to students to academic advisors.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methodologies, and techniques involved in the management of the administrative functions of a divinity school.
