LotusWorks is seeking an experienced Mechanical QCx Engineer to support commissioning and quality control activities within a state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication facility in New Albany, Ohio. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with client specifications, ASME/AWS standards, and local codes, while driving project success through rigorous inspection, testing, and documentation processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the Mechanical QA/QC plan in alignment with project specifications, ASME, AWS, and local codes.
  • Prepare, implement, and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for welding, piping, and mechanical systems.
  • Inspect welding activities to ensure compliance with WPS/PQR and welder qualifications.
  • Oversee fit-up, welding, and installation of process and utility piping systems (stainless steel, carbon steel, high purity, orbital welded).
  • Monitor and document inspections (pre-weld, in-process, post-weld), including visual checks, dimensional verification, and NDE coordination (RT, UT, PT).
  • Supervise pressure testing (hydrostatic, pneumatic, helium leak) of piping systems.
  • Verify piping materials and traceability against approved submittals and specifications.
  • Review technical drawings (P&IDs, isometrics, fabrication drawings) and material submittals for compliance.
  • Ensure proper handling and preservation of mechanical and piping materials.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test packages, and turnover dossiers.
  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify installation readiness and punch list completion.
  • Support commissioning activities, including validation of pre-functional checklists and redline drawings.
  • Participate in quality meetings, audits, and progress reporting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and training on welding and piping quality standards.
  • Ensure calibration and certification of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Assist in project closeout documentation, including O&M manuals and lessons-learned reports.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.   

Skills Required:

  • Must have 3+ years of experience doing welding and piping inspections
  • Strong background in welding inspection, including WPS/PQR review, welder qualifications, and weld visual inspection.
  • Proven experience with process and utility piping systems, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and high-purity piping.
  • Hands-on experience with hydrostatic, pneumatic, and helium leak testing of piping systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME Section IX, ASME B31.1/B31.3 piping codes, AWS D1.1/D1.6, and relevant international standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and execute Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for welding and piping systems.
  • Skilled in reviewing P&IDs, isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, and material submittals for compliance.
  • Proficiency in identifying, managing, and closing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implementing corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and audit requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to work alongside construction crews, subcontractors, commissioning teams, and clients.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

  • CWI Certification and/or Mechanical Engineering Degree Preferred 
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
