Leidos’ Defense Systems Mission Assurance Team is seeking a Quality Engineering & Control representative to join our team. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
Successful candidates will be responsible for planning, execution, and follow-up related to audits of quality management system processes and product-specific processes that meet the requirements of AS9100 and CMMI. To include audits of activities such as production, calibration, shelf life, human resources, purchasing and supplier evaluation, safety, nonconforming product, and business operations. Applicant must be able to work in fast-paced R&D environment and in production environment with minimal supervision.

- Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and complete internal, external, and participate in 3rd party audits to include AS9100 and AS6500 requirements standards.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of Quality Engineers supporting AS9100 programs.
- Collaborate with multiple facilities for quality inspections and safe delivery of products.
- Assign responsibilities, set priorities, and provide guidance on quality-related tasks.
- Develop and support training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Quality Engineering & Control compliance
- Ensure adherence to AS9100, customer, and regulatory requirements across the program.
- Lead risk management, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action (RCCA/CAPA) initiatives.
- Drive First Article Inspections (FAIs), PPAP, and process validations per industry standards.
- Support Design Reviews, Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs), and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs).
- Program Support & Customer Interface
- Act as the primary quality representative for responsible program, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Lead customer audits, source inspections, and quality reviews.
- Collaborate with Program Management and Engineering to resolve quality-related challenges.
- Continuous Improvement & Data-Driven Decision Making
- Utilize metrics and data analysis to identify trends, drive improvements, and reduce defects.
- Lead process improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Zero Defect initiatives).
- Champion a culture of quality and accountability within the organization. Work as an integrated member of the Quality program team alongside Engineering and Program Management as a representative of the Mission Assurance group and the Quality Management System.
- Additional duties as required by the Program Quality management team.
- Basic Qualifications
- Experience in an ISO9001/AS9100 and requirements.
- Candidates must have user knowledge in various computer based Computer Skills and can use computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Power Automate, PowerBI, SharePoint, Teams, JMP, and Mini Tab etc.
- Applicants must be able to work full-time with minimal supervision and adjust priorities based on workflow to meet program based requirements deadlines.
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area at their own expense.
- Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant
