Intake And Crisis Clinician - Student Counseling Center - UTK

About the role

The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a Triage and Crisis Clinician at the Student Counseling Center (SCC). Triage and Crisis Clinicians work as members of the triage team within the SCC. Team members assess and appropriately connect students seeking mental health care to services as indicated (group and individual therapy, medication services, crisis resources, crisis stabilization, inpatient, etc.) and use Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) model. Triage and Crisis Clinicians also provide Crisis Appointments via drop-in services and by appointment as assigned.

· Provide routine, urgent, and crisis triage screening services and appropriately assign level of care for students

· Provide clinical crisis services and follow up support to students experiencing a mental health crisis

· Connect students to relevant community resources or refer for non-clinical case management

· Clinical supervision of graduate students and pre-licensed professional staff for appropriately credentialed staff

· Assist with coordination of hospitalization, post hospitalization contact, and aftercare

· Practice clinical services to maintain compliance with prevailing professional standards

· Participate in consultation and case conference

· Prepare timely clinical documentation of interactions with students

· Provide psycho-educational presentations on areas such as Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) suicide prevention, mental health first-aid, and stress management

Required Qualifications

Education: Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a relevant mental health discipline such a Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counselor Education and Supervision, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or similar

Experience: Licensed or license eligible with supervision as a Mental Health Service Provider in the State of Tennessee as a Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist, or other clinical license. Pre-licensed professionals working under supervision are also appropriate.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong communication/interpersonal/organizational skills; Knowledge of assessment/diagnosis/treatment of mental health concerns common to university population; Knowledge of developmental issues of university students; Ability to provide effective/culturally competent clinical services to diverse student population; Ability to provide consultation to non-mental health professionals regarding mental health issues; Ability to work collaboratively with department/division/university personnel while maintaining client confidentiality; Ability to comply with all ethical and legal requirements for a mental health professional in Tennessee; Working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws including FERPA, HIPAA, ADA, and Title IX.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Experience providing services to a college population.
