Saw Operator Team Lead - INTERNAL POSTING - For current FLC employees ONLY

• Ensure accuracy in cutting, maintaining consistent quality and dimensions according to specifications. Adjust equipment settings as necessary.
• Safely operate sawmill machinery, including Verti-cut saws, circular saws, and other cutting equipment, to cut boards into specified sizes and dimensions.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure the safe operation of all equipment. Identify and report any potential hazards in the work area.
• Maintain pre and post equipment inspections.
• Troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Assists with Forklift Driving/Material handling.
• Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while ensuring accuracy and quality.
• Gathers all materials needed for daily work orders.
• Assist in conducting inventory counts.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Maintain accurate records of production, including the number of logs processed, the volume of lumber produced, and any issues encountered during operation.
• Work closely with other sawmill operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Oversee the operation of various types of saws, including circular saws, band saws, and miter saws, ensuring accurate and efficient cutting of materials according to specifications.
• Lead and manage a team of saw operators, providing guidance, support, and motivation. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and conduct regular team meetings to review progress and address any issues.·

Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred)
• Prior Manufacturing experience (preferred)
• Prior Woodworking experience (preferred)

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to read color labels and identify products
• Ability to read tape measure
• Ability to use saw and other powered equipment
• Basic math skills
• Forklift training
• Ability to count
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining saws and cutting equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
