Job Description
ASRC is currently seeking qualified candidates to support our VM&C REIM program at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
ASRC is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the System Administrator Senior II position to support our customer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
The System Administrator Senior II provides enterprise-level system administration support across Army environments. This role is responsible for configuration, monitoring, security hardening, patching, and troubleshooting of servers, databases, and applications in both on-premises and tactical environments. The candidate will also lead and mentor junior administrators, coordinate directly with government stakeholders, and contribute to system modernization and automation initiatives.
Responsibilities
Provide advanced system administration support for Microsoft, Red Hat, and VMware environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Manage patching, software deployment, and configuration baselines using Microsoft Enterprise Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).
Administer Microsoft SQL Server databases and assist with automation of database management and reporting.
Support integration, remediation, and compliance with DISA STIGs and RMF/EMASS requirements.
Develop, maintain, and deploy PowerShell and other scripting solutions to automate tasks and improve system performance.
Lead small technical teams, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and escalation support.
Collaborate with engineering and development teams to resolve complex issues, implement upgrades, and enhance capabilities.
Conduct vulnerability scanning, remediation, and reporting using ACAS, Nessus, and related tools.
Provide Tier II/III support to resolve escalated issues, coordinate with NEC, networking, and other stakeholders as required.
Assisting planning and executing operating system deployments and hardware lifecycle upgrades.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline; equivalent work experience may be considered.
8+ years of progressively responsible experience in system administration supporting Army or DoD IT environments.
Proficiency with:
Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 administration
Red Hat Linux administration
VMware vSphere/ESXi management
Microsoft SQL Server administration
Microsoft MECM/SCCM configuration and patch management
Experience with DISA STIGs, RMF, and system security compliance.
Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, C#, Bash, or similar languages.
Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
Active Secret clearance (minimum).
Preferred Qualifications
MCITP, MCSA, or related Microsoft certifications.
Experience with automation frameworks and DevOps tools (NodeJS, SonatypeNexus, CI/CD pipelines).
Background in tactical or field support environments, including direct interaction with Army units.
Prior experience leading small technical teams.
