Job Summary

The Corporate Data team plays a central role in enabling data-informed decision-making across the People & Places organization. This team delivers essential data and insights that help attract, develop, motivate, and retain the company’s most valuable asset — its people. The scope of support spans a wide range of workforce topics, including recruiting, learning and development, organizational health, employee engagement, diversity, total rewards, retention, program effectiveness measurement, and all areas connected to the employee lifecycle within People & Places.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to scale the corporate People Data Warehouse to support analytics across multiple teams.

  • Act as a self-starter with hands-on industry experience in SQL, data modeling, and ETL pipeline design.

  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines using Hive, Spark, or other MPP database architectures.

  • Work comfortably with Spark and Presto, including frequent use to process very large data volumes.

  • Develop clean, efficient code in Python, Java, or Scala.

  • Reliably operate and monitor hundreds of ETL pipelines, ensuring adherence to strict SLAs.

  • Quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve complex data issues.

  • Deliver highly detail-oriented, well-tested, and well-documented work.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, high-level terms to non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrate alignment with the qualifications listed below.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Solid Data Engineering experience, including designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining data infrastructures.

  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, outer joins, aggregations, unions, and window functions.

  • Experience with Data Modeling.

  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and ability to write shell scripts.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, Scala, or Go.

  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, such as monitoring, testing, and documentation.

  • Strong communication skills, proactivity, and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

  • Experience partnering closely with Data Analysts, providing required datasets and guidance on data issues.

  • Hands-on ETL experience and familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Impala, or Presto.

  • Ability to troubleshoot data issues in dashboarding tools, such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, or Power BI, and provide actionable solutions.

  • Strong team player, values collaboration and continuous improvement through candid feedback.

  • Airflow experience, including building and managing data pipelines.

  • Understanding and practical experience with big data ecosystems: Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
