Material Management Analyst II
The Materials Management Analyst II responsible for proactively mitigating potential part shortages by partnering closely with Procurement and leveraging demand forecasting, material visibility tools, and cross‑functional collaboration. This role provides early identification of Loss of Supply (LOS) risks, drives escalation and mitigation strategies, and ensures material readiness in support of MPS (Master Production Schedule) stability, on‑time delivery, and customer commitments.
The Planner serves as a primary link between supply, demand, and execution teams, ensuring constraints are clearly understood, communicated, and actively managed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Forecasting & Material Visibility
- LOB / Forecasting Ownership
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve the LOB forecasting tool for assigned areas
- Provide clear visibility for materials that are pacing or short relative to the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Analyze trends and forecast accuracy to identify future risk early
- Procurement Partnership
- Maintain an active working relationship with assigned Procurement Buyers and FSRs
- Develop detailed knowledge of supplier operations, capacity constraints, casting supply, and competing commitments
- Use supplier insight to refine LOS assessments and shortage timing
- Escalate risks proactively to drive recovery actions
- War Room & Sunrise Participation
- Actively escalate material risks and constraints to War Room and Sunrise meetings
- Attend all required escalation forums
- Own maintenance, tracking, and closure of escalated parts and action items
- Top Customer / MSA Communication
- Attend customer escalation meetings as required
- Communicate critical material risks and recovery plans to Production Schedulers
- Partner with the MSA team to establish weekly or monthly cadence reviews
- Reduce ad‑hoc escalations by improving structured communication and planning alignment
- Repair Routing & Rework Evaluation
- Work with Engineering and Quality teams to identify pacing materials eligible for in‑house rework or repair
- Evaluate routings and feasibility to convert constrained supply into usable inventory
- Support approval and execution of rework opportunities where applicable
- 100A Staging Shortage Reporting
- Run and analyze shortage reports for the 100A staging location
- Identify immediate risks to production flow and communicate findings to stakeholders
- Rework Demand vs. Supply Verification
- Validate demand versus available supply for rework items
- Analyze WIP versus demand to ensure material is aligned to true production needs
- Identify mismatches and drive corrective actions
- Determines escalation thresholds and priority for material shortages
- Recommends mitigation strategies including rebalancing, rework, and procurement actions
- Drives resolution of escalated materials through cross‑functional alignment
- Escalates unresolved risks to planning and operations leadership.
- Reduction in material shortages impacting MPS
- Accuracy and timeliness of LOS forecasting
- Effectiveness of supplier escalation and recovery actions
- Closure rate of War Room / Sunrise escalations
- Reduction in customer and MSA material escalations
- Utilization of rework and alternative supply options
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience in planning, material management, or supply chain analytics
- Strong understanding of forecasting, MPS, and material flow
- Experience working directly with Procurement and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced ERP / MRP system expertise
- Experience supporting customer escalations or AOG environments
- Background in manufacturing, casting, or repair operations
