Data Analytics & ReportingThe data analyst role will report into the Senior Manager, US Data Management Office and will assist with the implementation of the data governance program for US Personal and Business Banking line of business. The analyst will be responsible for development and maintenance of procedures for the group, work with the business to classify data, manage metadata and identify opportunities to improve overall data quality of US Personal and Business Banking data assets.- Responsible for identification and maintenance of Critical Data Elements
- Closely work with business on data classification
- Develop and implement Data Quality rules working with business teams
- Develop data scorecards and dashboards within the Informatica Suite.
- Responsible for Metadata content in the Business Glossary - data definitions and data classifications.
- Analyze end to end data lineage
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality at the source
- Document and maintains procedures to comply with directives
- Communicate accurately and appropriately
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- 3+ years of related data analysis experience, preferably in the financial services domain
- Experience working on data governance initiatives
- Knowledge of Metadata Management and Lineage
- Experience in using IDQ tool for source data profiling, creating, and applying rules to identify data anomalies.
- Related work experience in areas of data management, data governance, data warehousing and analysis
- Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle, and agile and waterfall methodologies
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated strong organization, time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Drives data governance by actively promoting improved data governance practices, enforcing policy, and following data governance best practices.
- Harmonizes data in the systems through a collaborative process with members from various business units.
- Establishes, maintains, periodically reviews and recommends changes to data governance policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Conducts audits to ensure that policies, procedures and metrics are in place for maintaining/improving the program.
- Aligns the Data Governance policy with the overall goals of the business strategy.
- Drives change in the organization to maximize the value of its data and plans for how the company will make those changes.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
