Position: Pastoral Assistant for Music
Position Type: Part-time, Exempt
I. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides leadership, coordination, and music for parish liturgies and designated celebrations. Supports the mission of the parish by fostering full, active, and conscious participation in worship through music ministry.
This position is part-time at 35,000.00—48,000.00Salary/year with an estimated 25 hours per week, with potential additional time required during peak liturgical seasons (e.g., Christmas and Easter).
II. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
A. Collaborates with the Pastoral Leadership, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
B. Plans and coordinates music for parish liturgies, including Sunday Masses and major liturgical celebrations.
C. Coordinates, rehearses, and directs parish choirs.
D. Collaborates with the Pastoral Assistant for Music at St. Thomas More campus (part of our Parish Family) to ensure that liturgical planning is consistent with the expectations of the Pastor and aligned across both campuses, while respecting the unique needs of each parish community.
E. Serves as accompanist (piano required; ability to play organ is a plus) for liturgies, rehearsals, and other parish celebrations when necessary. Recruits, trains, and supports parish ministers of music, including cantors and accompanists, as needed.
F. Schedules rehearsals and ensures that musicians, accompanists, and resources are available for all services under their direction.
G. Assists parishioners in planning music for weddings and funerals. Maintains a resource list of available musicians for these occasions.
H. Participates in Liturgy Committee meetings and supports the committee’s work as needed, completing tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
I. Prepares and administers the music ministry budget as delegated by the pastoral leadership.
J. Ensures all music materials are used in compliance with copyright laws, licensing requirements, and liturgical norms.
K. Maintains professional knowledge and skills through reading, attending workshops, and participating in relevant professional development opportunities.
L. Performs other duties as assigned.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
