Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Lead the implementation and sustainability of two programs Triple crown (P&M attract, train & retain) and Ignite (Empowering High-Performance Technicians). This includes the responsibility for leading key initiatives to hire exceptional talent, provide path for effective training and development, develop and clarify technical leadership progression, understand and implement morale retention strategies and sustain the activities. This role requires coordination with multiple internal functions (HR, WFD, Operations and Engineering) and external vendors such as community colleges, schools and career fairs.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the plant to be the lowest cost manufacturing locations for Color SMF
Support daily manufacturing in a high paced 24x7 facility
Attract, develop, and retain technical talent
Manage department projects to support plant objectives
Champion process control and change management efforts
Manage project budgets and forecasts
Protect Corning’s Intellectual Property (IP)
Be an advocate to pull in new technologies

Experiences/Education - Required
Four-year degree w/Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent preferred
5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated and proactive mindset
