The Facilities Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of utility, process, and support equipment and systems at the commercial Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility in Canton, MA. The use of multi-craft skills and an excellent troubleshooting background with adequate electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and building experience is desirable. The Facilities Technician will be required to work independently to assess and triage situations and to request guidance or support from cross-functional staff as needed. This position requires participation in Canton’s rotating on-call support program. The Facilities technician will be required to perform activities in the site electronic ERP/CMMS system and will be responsible for assigned quality
notifications (Deviation, CAPA, Effectiveness Checks, Change Controls).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform Preventative and Corrective Maintenance on site facilities, utility, process and support systems. This includes, but is not limited to, plant steam, clean steam, RODI water, Water for Injection (WFI), air and process gases, building chilled water, HVAC, and waste treatment systems. Process Equipment will include, but is not limited to, autoclaves, bioreactors, centrifuges, and purification skids.
  • Process preventative maintenance documentation in the global SAP ERP platform using cGMP documentation practices.
  • Record operating parameters and maintain the logs and records of facilities, utility, and life safety equipment per procedure.
  • Monitor and maintain the operational readiness of campus emergency diesel and gas generators.
  • Able to navigate the site Utility Control System (UCS) and Building Management System (BMS) for job tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee contracted maintenance service providers while they are on-site performing maintenance and repair to systems and equipment.
  • Assist other trades as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable rules and regulations of Emergent and the Pharmaceutical / Biotech industry. This includes FDA regulations, such as cGMP and GDocP, and Environmental Safety and Health and company regulations.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, respectful relationship with internal cross- functional customers; maintain a positive feedback/customer satisfaction rating.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
•    Required
o    Associates Degree, or a minimum of 2+ years of cGMP maintenance experience
recommended but not required.
o    MA State 2nd Class Fireman’s Boiler Operator License.
o    Ability to work in an unsupervised environment.
o    Experience and knowledge of Critical Utilities and Pharmaceutical processing equipment recommended but not required.
o    Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel required.
o    Experience CMMS platform. (Preferred not required)
o    Excellent organization and communication skills.
o    Proficient with Good Documentation Practices (GDocP).
o    Must have the ability to multi-task and coordinate workload by priority.
o    Must be customer service and quality driven.
•    Preferred
o    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Electrical or Life Science.
o    Experience with SAP
