Head of Delivery Success

PicnicHealth
San Francisco, United StatesRemotefull_timeVerifiedPosted 19 May 2025

About the role

PicnicHealth is simplifying clinical research with AI, making it faster and cheaper to get new treatments to patients. We’re bringing a patient-centered, AI-first approach to a $100b market otherwise dominated by old-school, services-driven incumbents.  We’re creating a streamlined operating system for clinical research, built on top of our AI for medical record data in trials and a personal health assistant that keeps patients engaged (NPS 66).  Today, we are using that platform to run end-to-end observational research studies for biopharma companies.

Founded in 2014, PicnicHealth has raised over $100 million from investors including YC, Amplify Partners, Felicis Ventures and B Capital Group. Our business running observational studies more than doubled last year and we expect to grow even faster this year.  We've gained real traction in a conservative industry: 12 of the top 20 pharma companies use PicnicHealth, we've got 60+ publications across 40 disease areas, and we just had our first FDA approval that included our data in the submission.

The Opportunity

As the Head of Delivery Success, you’ll be responsible for building the team and operations that ensure exceptional delivery - and ultimately the success of - observational research studies for our life sciences partners. In this role, you’ll make sure new studies are successfully handed off from Sales to Delivery and are kicked off and managed to meet, and exceed, our customers’ expectations. You’ll lead a team of Study Success Project Managers (SSPMs) and ClinOps professionals. You’ll take ownership of developing our delivery model, including things like defining best practices, driving cross-functional alignment, and scaling operations to meet the needs of our rapidly growing business. Working closely with leaders across Delivery, Product, Data, and Science, you’ll ensure studies are executed successfully—on time, within scope, in budget, and to our customer’s delight-- all while defining new ways of working internally and with customers.

What we’re looking for in the Head of Delivery Success:

  • 10+ years of experience in clinical research and real-world/observational studies,  real-world evidence, with at least 3–5 years leading study success, project management, program management, or study delivery teams.
  • Strong orientation to ensuring study success with an exceptional track record managing client-facing engagements with biopharma sponsors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading full-service observational and low-interventional research studies, including decentralized and site-based models, across the lifecycle, including protocol development, launch, execution, and closeout.
  • A builder who thrives in the white space and has a knack for solving problems that haven’t been solved before.
  • Ability to think strategically, act tactically, and balance competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong experience collaborating with digital patient engagement, scientific, clinical, and data teams.
  • Demonstrated ease in a tech-forward operating environment and experience integrating automation tools that enable scale and visibility into the delivery process.

Over the next 12 months, you will be focused on:

  • Leading, mentoring, and growing the Study Success Project Management & ClinOps teams while cultivating a high-performing, mission-driven culture
  • Defining, building, and evolving PicnicHealth’s study execution methodology, ensuring consistency, scalability, and operational excellence across all studies.
  • Overseeing study delivery for our most critical and complex observational research programs, ensuring a best-in-class experience for clients.
  • Driving strategic alignment between internal stakeholders and client teams to ensure study milestones, budgets, and timelines are consistently met.
  • Serving as the senior escalation point for project risks, working with cross-functional leads to develop mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
  • Collaborating with Product and Data teams to shape roadmap priorities that support SSPM, ClinOps, and Delivery needs.
  • Partnering with Commercial and Finance teams to ensure accurate forecasting, transparent reporting, and contract alignment (including change order processes)

We expect all team members to be amazing in their roles and, ultimately, to move the PicnicHealth mission forward.
